F.A.Q.

Below are answers to common questions we receive about our business and Microcurrent Neurofeedback. Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding your unique situation!

Microcurrent Neurofeedback is a safe, research-backed treatment that supports the nervous system to gently shift out of fixed, unhealthy brainwave patterns. This allows the nervous system to “reset” and re-establish healthier, more resilient, brainwave patterns.

Our clients report having an improved mood, a calmer, quieter mind, improved resilience to stress, decreased irritability, improved sleep, and improved concentration & memory.

Children that go through treatments often have an improved ability to regulate their emotions, decreased irritability & angry outbursts, and an improved ability to focus!

Our teenage clients often report having increased motivation, decreased anxiety, improved focus for school work, and an improved ability to meet the demand of school and stressors of life!

Since Microcurrent Neurofeedback supports the nervous system’s ability to  regulate itself, anyone can benefit from treatments! Many of our clients  are seeking help with symptoms that are so common to all of us, such as:

  • Overactive, restless minds
  • Difficulty relaxing
  • Low motivation and decreased energy
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Frequent negative moods
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of being overwhelmed
  • Difficulty sleeping

We are also able to help with symptoms related to the following conditions:

Traditional neurofeedback therapies attempt to actively “train” the brain to reach healthier brainwave states. Microcurrent Neurofeedback “dis-entrains” the brain, allowing it to shift out of fixed, unhealthy patterns. Microcurrent Neurofeedback is passive, requires less treatments than traditional neurofeedback, and appears to be more effective at helping with a broad range of symptoms and conditions.

Microcurrent Neurofeedback is a gentle healing process and the benefits are cumulative, meaning each session builds upon progress made in prior sessions.  Around 85 % of clients report noticeable positive changes in 1-3 sessions! The goal of our treatment is for client’s to reach “enduring sustainability”- where the positive benefits remain without requiring additional treatments. The amount of sessions required to reach this point varies depending on the individual client, the severity of their symptoms, and how long the symptoms have been present.

Yes! IASIS is an FDA approved modality and is safe for all ages!

Most of our clients do not experience negative side effects. However; in the first few sessions, a client may experience feeling light-headed, fatigued, or a feeling of being “wired”.  Mild headaches also occasionally occur. If these symptoms do occur, they are always temporary, and typically last only a few minutes to a few hours. We perform a thorough intake assessment which helps us tailor the treatments to each individual. This helps decrease the likelihood that side effects will occur.

There is a published study that was conducted at the University of California in San Diego (UCSD) that measured the effects of Iasis MicroCurrent Neurofeedback on PTSD and traumatic brain injury. The participants all had an improvement in their symptoms and improved brain waves after going through a series of treatments! They also found that these positive changes were enduring, and were still noted 6 months after the participants had completed their treatments! You can access this study here.

Most clients benefit from receiving two sessions a week at the beginning of their treatment. After positive changes are sustained at twice a week, sessions can be tapered down in frequency until sessions are no longer required to maintain the positive results.

The initial session includes an intake interview and lasts for an hour. The remaining sessions take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the client’s specific protocol. During the session, the client relaxes in a chair while leads are placed in various locations on the forehead and scalp.

At Reclaimed Mind, we are committed to making the sessions as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. During sessions, our clients relax in a comfortable chair, listen to music, and watch beautiful nature scenes.

Absolutely not! The gentle pulses of energy that are sent to the nervous system during treatment are often imperceptible to our clients.

Yes! Many of our clients have been able to pay for their sessions with their HSA cards. Since HSA plans can vary, we recommend that clients check with their individual HSA provider.
